About the author
Wendy S. Simons is a fifth-generation daughter of the Great Lakes.
Growing up on the southern shores of Lake Michigan, it’s no wonder Simons has an affinity with water. It’s difficult to drive very far there without coming across one of four Great Lakes, a small inland lake, a river or a stream. She has said it seems she can’t write a story without some element of water playing a roll, more often than not therapeutic in nature.
Working as a graphic designer and illustrator, she bounced around the country, always living in close proximity to water. When none of those locations seemed to fit long term, she returned home to Michigan, where her great-great-grandfather was a lumberman on Lake Huron and his son a steamship captain on Lake Michigan. Her roots run deep there. She believes sometimes a person has to leave a place to feel the full power of its draw.
Her first novel, A Second Look, Stone by Stone, and Losing August are available now. Stone by Stone royalties go to assist Chimney Rock. North Carolina, rebuild. Weeding Out the Lies launches in late May. Weeding Out the Lies, Losing August and A Second Look share the fictional lakefront town of Edgewater, Michigan.
